My Blog

WordPress 2.3 fully functional and operational

I just installed WP 2.3, and went through every single post and miniblog to add a tag with the new tagging system. I also added the tags to the sidebar on the permalink page, with which you can now use to search the site more efficiently.

I like tags, but I hate tag clouds, so I will probably not add one on this site, but if I ever get enough free time to code the new redesign I’ve been occasionally working on, I’d like to add a ‘Top Ten Tags’ section somewhere. We shall see.

Going through all of the posts to add tags required me to skim over what I’ve written, and it was a nice trip down memory lane for me. I noticed I’ve posted A LOT about making changes to this blog, most of which never occurred. I guess that makes me a weak bastard.

When I was done tagging, I temporarily made a tag cloud on the front page to see all the tags I have used, so I could weed out the ones that were redundant, like ‘code’ and ‘coding’ so I could simplify the taxonomy of it all.

I’ve also noticed that I have more control over presentation of my posts with the now unhidden ‘Advanced Toolbar’ on the ‘Write Post’ page.

So far, all of my plugins work fine, and I see that two of them have an updated version, which is another nice perk of 2.3. I’d say this is one of the better WP updates in a long time.
