Upcoming plans and changes for this blog.
As I have stated before, I am making graphical enhancements to this blog. While doing so, I am also making a few changes to the content of this blog. I feel that since I launched this blog in April 2007 it has been a great learning experience, but I’d like to take it to the next level by actually having more of a focus on the topics that I discuss. I believe that I would also like to garner a larger audience by being more consistent with the type and frequency of content that can be found here.
The first changes will be visual. Right now everything is very, very basic, which was fun for me for awhile because it felt rebellious to basically have no design when trying to come up with a good design. I’m still a fan of this site’s layout, so that won’t change much, I will only be updating/upgrading its look. It will be like going from shorts and a t-shirt to a nice suit, hopefully. I hope that this change will showcase some of my design skills that are seriously lacking in this current design and possibly even increase the amount of time users spend on this site. I believe the more inviting the visuals, the more time people will look at them.
Some other changes will not be so noticeable. For instance, I will stop calling this web site a web site and start calling it a blog. I’m not sure what the actual definition of a blog is, and whether or not the content is allowed to be of a personal nature, or if it has to be of a certain topic other than one’s self, but I say, “rules be damned” and I will call this a blog. There are posts, there is an RSS feed, there are categories. It’s a blog.
As far as topics are concerned, I plan on focusing more on web design than any other topic on this site. I plan on having WordPress and Photoshop tutorials as well as general design discussion. Right now I feel that I talk too much about me, which is ok because it’s my site blog, but I’d rather give people a reason to come back besides to hear me talk about myself. I’d rather give readers a little more value. Secondarily, I intend to spend more time on the topic of horror movies and video games, since besides my lovely wife-to-be, those are my personal passions.
As time goes by, this blog will keep evolving. I will keep learning about how to write properly and effectively and in a way that will hopefully become useful to anyone who’s interested in web design. I will also try to follow best practices and trends that arise in the future.
Right now I’m in the middle of planning a wedding, so I believe the visual changes to this site will take place after the wedding. Sometime in either late October or early November. I may start focusing my topics before that though. Either way, thanks for reading, and have a nice day.
