Serial killers are interesting subjects

I had a bad dream last night. I was hanging out with some British dude and we were both singing a song about how to properly cook human heads. While were were singing this song, we had a big casserole dish which was filled with decapitated human heads. The British fellow was squeezing some sort of clear liquid out of one of the heads, which he was using to marinate the others. Then we set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and pushed the dish in. Then I woke up.

Did I ever mention my fascination with dark and morbid subject matter? Well I’m doing it now. In my down time I sometimes read up on serial killers. One of the best resources to go to is Crime Library, which is somehow in cahoots with CourtTV. I’ve read the majority of their Serial Killers section. I was just reading an interesting article called “What Makes Serial Killers Tick?” It’s an interesting read, and I recommend it for anyone interested in serial killer psychology. It ends with a well written, and well thought out paragraph that I think sums up the public’s fascination with serial killers quite well:

The serial killer lives on the other side of our social boundaries. He is an embodiment of the darkness, desire, and power that we must repress within ourselves. He is not a creature of reason, but of excess and transgression and voracious appetites - selfish, carnal desire. He breaks the social rules that confine the rest of us- our outrage keeps the boundaries intact, while our curiosity can explore the dark recesses of our own repressed desires from a safe distance. He crosses the line into a world of mayhem and depravity. We recoil at their bloody antics, but remain transfixed.

I don’t like serial killers as people, nor do I condone their actions. I’m a peace-loving person. I don’t think serial killers are cool. I am fascinated by the dark side of human psychology. Just a disclaimer.
