My Blog

Thanks for reading

Like a phoenix rising from the depths of Abaddon, so shall I.

In the last few months, I have changed my work schedule from nights to days, gone through two power supplies for my PC, quit Paxil, and have been assisting my lovely fianceé with planning our glorious wedding. For some, this might not sound like alot, in which case I would say that maybe you are alot less lazy than I. For me, however, this has been devastating in terms of feeling creative. I usually feel exhausted, since I am not a morning person, and I’ve been getting up at the crack of dawn. All of this equals less creative energy, and more desire to sit on the couch and play some XBOX 360 before I hit the sack.

But now, I am trying to turn all of that around.

We all need a break every now and then, especially when things change in our lives, but now I would like to begin putting at least a little more effort into redesigning my web site, my fianceé’s web site, and making a wedding web site for the both of us.

For quite some time, I have wanted to change the appearance of my web site. It started out as a well planned two column layout, but then I decided to get all ‘awesome’ on it and make it a wider, three colum (in some places) layout, although I have never wanted to have to produce the amount of content that nicely fills out a three column layout, so what the user gets (that’s you) is a huge, wide web site, with all of the bells and whistles of a two column web site.

I messed up. I admit it.

So now I want to go back to the glory of the two column and feel better about myself. Lesson learned: When making a blog, design around your content, don’t try to come up with content to support your design. For static web sites with non-updating content, this isn’t as much of an issue.

My fianceé’s web site was something I designed a while back when she was smack-dab in the middle of producing some romantic eBooks with her writing partner at that time. Well, due to many different circumstances, that fell apart at about the same time we started planning our wedding. So she hasn’t had the time, energy, or the will to update it, and as stated above, I don’t have the energy to maintain it or update its design a whole lot. So there you have it, a recipe for a stagnating site, of which many posts have become spam fodder.

Finally, we come to a nice little blog where Amanda and I can blog about the glories and tribulations of planning a wedding. We bought the domain, but, uhh, I haven’t gotten around to making that happen either.

Life was alot easier on Paxil. If it weren’t for the side-effects, I’d still be on it right now.

So, I honestly intend to start working on these projects starting tomorrow, the best time to start any project. I have an interview at work tomorrow for the position of overlord supervisor, so tonight, I just want to take it easy and relax and hopefully get rested for tomorrow. After that, I can have sleep deprived coding binges till the wee hours of the morning.

So, those are my plans, let’s see what comes of them. Stay tuned.
